Blake Dream Living Space

Project details

The Max Hugo team was thrilled to create a dream living/dining space for the Blake family in Apex, North Carolina. Designer Katherine Gianakos was tasked by Samantha and Brent Blake to design an open concept space that included the entryway, living room, dining space, and kitchen. One of the biggest challenges of this project was to ensure that all materials and surfaces were “livable” – i.e. durable enough to withstand the Blakes’ two young sons and two dogs. Katherine used this challenge as an opportunity to incorporate natural fabrics and textures that achieved the client’s personal style and need for durability in a high-traffic living space. The design includes elements such as rattan, woven wood shades, wood furniture, and leather details to create a relaxed yet finished look. Green and navy hues were used in soft finishes to tie the rooms together while pops of color and patterns warm up the space.

Katherine created a fun moment in the entryway using Thibaut printed wallpaper, a wood Uttermost mirror, and Elk Home chandelier. The Loloi area rug leads you into a kitchen and dining area adorned with stunning roman shades and cornice boards in a playful floral print that ties into the hunter green kitchen island. The round pedestal dining table by Bramble and the rattan-back chairs make a cozy gathering space for family dinners and game nights.

The living room is filled with cozy and beautiful seating from Masterfield including custom sofas in CRYPTON fabric, known for holding up against children and furry family members. Custom leather and linen pillows top the sofas in a variety of fabrics that can mix and match with ease. The ottomans, tables, and console all have generous storage – a “must” for the Blakes!
